Hyderabad: Three young men who went missing while swimming in Gandipet lake on Sunday were found drowned on Monday.According to GV Raman Goud, ACP of Narsingi, a complaint was lodged at Narsingi police station around 1 am on the intervening night of March 15-16 by Derangula Sukanya, a resident of Ibrahim Bagh. In her complaint, she said that her husband Govardhan Prasad (26), her younger brother Karthik (19), and their relative Venkatesh (19) had gone to Gandipet lake at around 1 pm on March 15 but did not return home. Based on the complaint, police initially registered a missing case and launched a search operation. Police teams carried out searches in and around the lake, and the bodies of the three men were later found floating in the water and retrieved them. Preliminary investigation indicates that the trio entered the lake for a swim and accidentally moved into deeper waters, where they drowned. Police suspect that when one of them began to drown, the others tried to rescue him but they also slipped into deep waters, leading to the deaths of all three. Police shifted the bodies to Osmania general hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered.
