HYDERABAD: Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is also a member of the parliamentary standing committee on Energy, on Tuesday said the Centre's missive to the Telangana government to cough-up Rs 6,756 crore power dues to Andhra Pradesh state within a month is actually a five-year old pending issue.
“The BJP government has brought it to the fore now as part of a tacit understanding with the TRS to derive political mileage by both the parties ahead of the by-poll to Munugode Assembly constituency. They are trying to divert the attention of voters from the real issues,” he alleged.
Addressing a media conference, Uttam slammed the BJP government for not implementing even a single of the numerous assurances made to Telangana in the AP State Reorganisation Act.
“While the BJP government does not set up a rail coach factory at Kazipet, it has sanctioned Vande Bharat rail coach manufacturing facilities in many other states. A tribal university has not been set up in Telangana, while it has already started functioning in AP. The Modi-government has scrapped the prestigious ITIR-project which envisaged Rs 2.5 lakh crore investments in and around Hyderabad and created 50 lakh direct and indirect unemployment,” he said.
Uttam demanded that union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda and other central leaders visiting Telangana should first explain to the people the reasons for not implementing any of the above promises and then address public meetings.
“The central BJP leaders should enter Munugode only after announcing the date for enhancement of ST reservations in proportion to their population in Telangana,” he demanded.
