HYDERABAD: Residents looking for solutions to routine civic problems on Monday found a topless photograph of porn-star-turned Bollywood actor
Sunny Leone on the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's website, sparking a flurry of phone calls for authorities to take it down.
The photograph captioned “having fun in the shower“ appeared in a section that monitors the movement of trash pick-up vans in the city. The number of daily visitors to the site went up by 16 per cent, but officials were “not sure“ if the photograph caused the spike.
Officials removed the picture and said the website had been hacked.
Surendra Mohan, additional commissioner (IT), GHMC, said an internal probe was on to nail the culprits, hoping “this would never happen again.“ Officials said the Centre For Good Governance (CGG) hosts the site and the picture could have emerged from their end. CGG officials denied it and said a through probe must be done to find the culprits.
“We cannot be held responsible. As far as we know, the agreement between the operating company and the corporation was terminated,“ said director, e-governance, CGG, Vijay Karan Reddy. The civic body has not lodged any police complaint.
