Student suffers burns at hostel kitchen, in-charge suspended

Hyderabad: Mahabubnagar collector Viziendira Boyi has suspended Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Nawabpet, in charge special officer Prashanthi after a student suffered burn injuries when hot oil spilled on her at the hostel kitchen. After an inquiry report was submitted by the tahsildar, the collector has taken action against Prashanthi.
In the incident on Nov 26, a class 9 girl student was helping out in the kitchen, making poori for other students. The girl suffered burn injuries on her hand when hot oil spilled on her. She was immediately taken to the local hospital for treatment. The mother of the girl was informed about the incident and the student was sent home with her.
Holding the in charge special officer guilty of negligence, the suspension orders were issued on Nov 27, and she was directed not to leave the headquarters until a complete inquiry was conducted.
There were nearly 380 students at the hostel, and it is learnt that the help of students was taken in the kitchen for cooking.
