SIO urges govt to prioritise edu, student welfare ahead of state budget 2026-27

Hyderabad: The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of Telangana has urged the state govt to prioritise education, student welfare and youth development ahead of the state budget for 2026-27.It also called for decisive policy measures to address key structural gaps in the education sector.
The organisation expressed serious concern over the delay in the disbursement of scholarships under the Tuition Fee Reimbursement (RTF) and Maintenance Fee (MTF) schemes, which continues to affect thousands of students across Telangana. It urged the govt to release pending scholarship dues immediately and establish a transparent and time-bound mechanism for fund disbursement to prevent disruption to students' academic progress."The govt must ensure that the funds allocated for education and minority welfare are fully utilised in a transparent and timely manner. Delays in scholarship disbursement and unfilled teaching posts directly affect the educational prospects of thousands of students across Telangana," said Mohd Faraz Ahmed, president of the association.Calling for greater educational equity, SIO Telangana demanded the effective implementation of the Right To Education (RTE) Act, which mandates a 25% reservation for disadvantaged children in private schools.The organisation also highlighted that a major portion of the education budget is currently spent on salaries, leaving limited investment for teacher training, academic innovation, and institutional strengthening. It recommended balanced expenditure that also focuses on improving the quality of teaching, infrastructure, and learning outcomes in the state's education system.On minority welfare, SIO Telangana called for transparent and efficient utilisation of the minority welfare budget, noting that several educational schemes for minority students face delays due to slow fund releases and administrative bottlenecks.
