) on Monday announced that as per the new guidelines issued by the Central

Haj

Committee of India, applicants above the age of 65 years will not be eligible for Haj 2022 this year.

, advisor to Government of Telangana (Minorities Welfare), said that the

Ministry of Haj and Umrah

in Saudi Arabia brought certain changes in rules and regulations for the pilgrimage. “Those above 65-years-old intending to perform Haj will not be eligible for the pilgrimage. Also, only fully vaccinated pilgrims will be allowed to perform Haj,” said Khan.

The TSHC has received more than 4,000 applications for Haj this year and those aged over 65 years will lose the opportunity to perform Haj this year.

“Once we receive the circular-12, we will have to sort out applications as per the new rules. The last date for submitting applications has been extended to April 22,” B Shafiullah, executive officer, Telangana State Haj Committee, told TOI.
