Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday set a deadline of Dec 2027 for the completion of the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation scheme, the industrial park at Lagacherla, the education hub and other major projects in Kodangal assembly constituency.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stones for the development of the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple, a 430-bed hospital and several other projects in the Kodangal constituency, Revanth appealed to the leaders of all the political parties to set aside differences and extend cooperation in developing Kodangal into a model constituency in the country.
“Your ‘bidda’ is now the chief minister. Utilise this opportunity by rising above political affiliations to develop the constituency. Telangana is being positioned at the forefront of development with everyone’s support. I am working 18 hours a day to achieve the goals set by the people’s (Cong) govt for the robust growth of Telangana. The state has been put on a fast track to development,” he said.
Highlighting the development programmes taken up in his Kodangal assembly constituency, which is represented by him, the CM said educational institutions, including medical and engineering colleges, an ATC centre, a nursing college, a polytechnic, and a Sainik school, are being established. “The development of this educational hub will be completed within a year and a half. Steps are being taken to ensure that students from across the state come to Kodangal for higher education,” Revanth said.
Thanking the people for their blessings, which led him to become the CM, Revanth said Kodangal would be transformed into a role model for the entire country. “We are establishing an industrial park spread across 2,300 acres at Lagacherla and constructing a major roadway connecting Kodangal to the airport. The Vikarabad railway line is being achieved, and the construction of a cement industry will commence within the next six months to provide employment to locals. India’s leading industries are coming forward to set up their units in Kodangal,” he said.
The chief minister directed officials to complete all development works in Kodangal by Dec 2027 and appealed to local body representatives to strive for the development of their villages by setting aside political differences. He also directed officials to complete the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift Irrigation Scheme by Dec 2027 to bring Krishna River water to the constituency. Animal husbandry minister V Srihari was entrusted with the responsibility of land acquisition for the project. “Funds will be released, but the project must be completed in one and a half years,” he said.
The CM also highlighted the spiritual significance of Kodangal. “The Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kodangal is renowned as the ‘Tirupati of the Poor’, serving not only the people of Telangana but also devotees from neighbouring Karnataka and Maharashtra,” he said. Revanth added that the Kodangal assembly constituency represents a unique duality – on one side stands the ‘Gudi’ (the temple), and on the other, the ‘Gadi’ (the seat of power). “Both the temple and the seat of power have united to propel Kodangal forward, transforming it into a land flourishing with bountiful crops and prosperity,” he said.
