Poet-lyricist Jayaraj to get Kaloji award

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday announced that popular poet-lyricist and singer Jayaraj will be awarded the Kaloji Narayana Rao award for the year 2023.The state government has been presenting this award in memory of Padma Vibhushan awardee Kaloji Narayana Rao every year. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced the name of Jayaraj for the award, which will be presented to him at a function on September 9. Jayaraj will be felicitated with a memento and a cash prize of a lakh. Jayaraj, 60, hails from a Dalit family in in Mahabubabad.
