HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Maharashtra former energy minister Nitin Raut was injured during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in Hyderabad.
He was admitted to a hospital with injuries above his right eye, hands and legs.
He had participated in the walkathon on Tuesday. There has been a huge response to the yatra in Telangana with people of all ages and various sections of society even trying to breach the security to meet Rahul Gandhi and trying to touch him and wanting to take a photograph with him. Even the Congress leaders and cadres have been participating in huge numbers.
While the talk is that he fell down due to the jostling during yatra, there are allegations that a policeman pushed him along with the crowd to maintain their distance from Rahul Gandhi.
However, his daughter tweeted, "Yesterday, in Hyderabad my father fainted during Bharat Jodo Yatra. he has got a small injury on his head. I hope he gets well soon and joins the mass movement when it reaches Maharashtra@NitinRaut_INC."
While the doctors said his condition is stable and he is under treatment, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had a telephonic conversation with him and wished speedy recovery. He also met AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday in Hyderabad.
Bharat Jodo yatra will exit Telangana and enter Maharashtra on November 7. The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee had been making elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct and success of the yatra in the state.
