Life sciences growth driver of Telangana, says industries minister Sridhar Babu at BioAsia conference
Hyderabad: The 23rd edition of BioAsia wrapped up on Tuesday with the Telangana govt citing record participation and a surge in business engagements as the state renewed its pitch to position itself as a global TechBio and life sciences hub.At the valedictory session, Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu said Telangana is targeting a $3-trillion economy by 2047, with life sciences identified as a pivotal growth driver. In a fireside chat earlier, he said the state hosts over 2,000 life sciences companies, contributes nearly one-third of India's pharmaceutical production, and accounts for about one-fifth of the country's pharma exports.

He said multiple global firms, including Sanofi, Opella, Vaxxinova Animal Health, Tredence and Rx Propellant, expressed interest in investing in Telangana during the summit. He added that BioAsia 2026 was the largest edition so far, drawing 4,394 registrations and facilitating more than 4,000 B2B meetings focused on partnerships, investments and market access across biopharma, medtech and digital health.The event featured over 120 startups, with over 40 exhibiting solutions in medical devices, biomarkers, nutraceuticals, AI/ML, and cell and gene therapy. The research and innovation circle of Hyderabad also launched the Telangana Hospital–Industry–Innovation Bridge to strengthen healthcare innovation, translational research and medtech manufacturing.
