Inter student kills self over exam fear

HYDERABAD: A 17-year-old intermediate student died by suicide at her house in Madhapur on Monday afternoon. Family members told police that the victim, a first-year inter student, was depressed due to exam stress for a while. The deceased was identified as Konda Divya, who lived in the penthouse of a fivestoried building along with her parents and elder sister. Divya's father Venu is the watchman of the building.

According to Madhapur subinspector (SI) Deekshita, the victim was studying at a private college in Parvathnagar, Madhapur, and her elder sister is a school dropout. At 12.10pm on Monday, Divya's mother, Kavitha, saw her daughter hanging from the ceiling fan in the house with a sari. “Divya hung herself when she was alone at home. With the help of neighbours, her family members rushed the girl to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead on arrival,” the SI said. Family members said that Divya was not able to study properly due to family problems and she was in depression due to fear of failure in the exams. No suicide note was found.
