HYDERABAD: A 34-year-old vegetable vendor, who had attempted suicide at her home after telling a family friend during a video call on June 25, succumbed at Gandhi Hospital early on Saturday.
She alerted a family friend via video call on June 25 before being discovered unconscious by neighbors.
The victim, Mamatha, was found unconscious at her home in Aditya Nagar Colony in Mansoorabad at around 6:40 pm on June 25 by family friend Kandukuri Suresh and neighbour K Naresh. Her husband, Srinivas Reddy, a driver, was on duty during the incident. The couple had been married for 17 years and they have a 16-year-old daughter, police said.Distress callAfter Mamatha had made the distress call to Suresh, who lives in the neighbourhood, he had rushed to the house and also alerted her husband, police said. She was moved to a private hospital in Vanasthalipuram by Srinivas, who had arrived home soon after the call. Subsequently, she was referred to Gandhi Hospital on June 26 for better treatment where she died on Saturday morning."Family members said financial problems could be the reason behind the suicide," LB Nagar inspector K Vinod Kumar said. Based on Srinivas' complaint, LB Nagar police registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
