ED attaches properties worth ₹4.8 crore in Bhoodan case
Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties worth 4.8 crore belonging to the accused in the Bhoodan case. Investigators said the accused forged documents, claimed the land as ancestral property, and subsequently sold it. The ED has identified crime proceeds of 6.8 crore. The case was booked by the Maheswaram police on Jan 13, 2023, over the alleged sale of Bhoodan and govt lands in Nagaram village. The probe revealed that govt and Bhoodan land in Survey No. 181 of Nagaram village was falsely claimed as ancestral property by Khaderunissa and her son Munawar Khan.According to the ED, its Hyderabad unit provisionally attached immovable assets worth 4.8 crore on Aug 28 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The properties belong to Mohammed Munawar Khan and his wife, Faiqa Taha Khan, in connection with a money laundering case against Khaderunissa and others. The attached assets are located in Banjara Hills, Tolichowki, and Shamshabad.Officials said revenue records were fraudulently mutated, enabling the land parcels to be sold to several parties with the help of middlemen. In connivance with govt officials, documents were forged and the land was de-notified from the prohibited list before being sold.
By illegally selling the land, the accused gained proceeds of crime of about 6.45 crore, the ED said. The funds were allegedly used by Munawar Khan to acquire immovable properties in the name of his wife. Further investigation is underway.
