Former UFC champion
Conor McGregor surprised supporters on August 31, 2025, in Budva, Montenegro, by stating that Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) boasts the strongest heavyweight division in combat sports. Attending BKFC's inaugural event, he lauded Dilan Prasovic's first-round knockout of Lasha Roinishvili, a statement seen as a jab at UFC president Dana White and Stars in boxing, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. The night soon turned chaotic when a violent storm struck the open-air venue, injuring fans and forcing the cancellation of the main and co-main events.
Conor McGregor praises Dilan Prasovic and snubs UFC and boxing
Watching from ringside, Conor McGregor wasted no time sharing his excitement with his millions of followers. He reposted a clip of Dilan Prasovic’s knockout on Instagram and wrote:
“Lovely slick, nimble, mobile, crafty, and accurate addition to our BKFC HW div.”Soon after, he doubled down with a bold claim:
“BKFC HAS THE BEST HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION IN COMBAT TODAY.” This one line was enough to spark debates. By saying this, McGregor seemed to dismiss UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, top contender Ciryl Gane, and even boxing’s biggest names, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
Given McGregor's involvement with BKFC since becoming a partial owner in 2024, the timing was remarkable.
For many supporters, his remarks indicated that he is now endorsing bare-knuckle fighting as the future of fighting sports.

The event, held at Top Hill nightclub, took a scary turn when sudden wind and heavy rain battered the stage. Scaffolding collapsed, the lights shook, and fans had to run for safety. The main and co-main fights were cancelled, leaving many disappointed.
Conor McGregor, who left early, later said:
“Budva brought the thunder, baby. That was the maddest thing ever… I wasn’t waiting, I know this ain’t safe.” Hours later, BKFC issued a statement promising that the full Budva Fight Night card would be shown on tape delay at 7 p.m. ET on the BKFC app.
For the fighters and fans, the storm ruined a historic night, but Conor McGregor’s comments ensured the spotlight stayed firmly on BKFC’s heavyweight division.
