HYDERABAD:

Manchal

inspector

M Gangadhar

, who was served a charge memo for slapping a bike race organiser, has to explain about his high-handed behaviour to the

Rachakonda

commissioner within a fortnight.

Earlier, DGP Anurag Sharma responded to the tweet of IT minister K T Rama Rao about the high-handed behaviour of police towards the race organiser.

In his response to the minister's comments, the DGP tagged Rachakonda commissioner

Mahesh Bhagawat

's response to KTR. The commissioner informed the DGP that, "disciplinary action is being initiated against the inspector, Manchal, for high handedness. The incident happened due to the adamant attitude of the organiser who, without permission and safety, security measures created a panic situation in rural area of Manchal PS."

Bhagawat told TOI that the inspector had been issued a charge memo and the inspector should explain why he had to behave in an objectionable manner.

"Based on his explanation, further action will be initiated, if necessary," the commissioner added.
