HYDERABAD: Accusing the BJP of inciting communal tension in Delhi, AIMIM chief
Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said clashes in the capital city brought back memories of the
2002 Gujarat riots.
“The whole world has seen how the Delhi police were complicit in the whole communal carnage that took place. I will not call it a communal riot, but it is a deliberate programme, and it reminds the nation of what happened in 2002,” said Owaisi on Wednesday in Hyderabad.
Continuing his verbal attack on BJP and Delhi police, Owaisi said: “I want to ask the honourable Prime Minister, is this your Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas? Your chief minister says, to be in India you have to say this slogan, who are you to judge my loyalty towards nation? This very thinking has gone down to the level of police officers,” said Owaisi, referring to a video where four inured people were singing the national anthem in the presence of cops.
An angry Owaisi questioned how cops allowed a group of people to go near a place of worship and said the Army should be pressed into action as people did not have any faith in the police.
“The worst part was people clapping when the whole tyre market was burnt. Army should be brought in as Delhi police is complicit in this matter,” said the Hyderabad MP.
He took potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and MoS (home) Kishan Reddy.
“Neither the PM OR HM has reacted to this, and are only holding meetings. Why can’t they condemn it an outright manner? Why can’t union home minster visit the areas (where violence erupted), why can’t his MOS go? he (MOS) sits in Hyderabad and criticises me,” said the lawmaker.
“Why can’t HM visit all these areas, when HM can camp for four days continuously and hold more 30 public meetings ahead of Delhi elections, why can’t he go now?” he added.
He also said that the responsibility of not controlling this communal riot lies with the BJP government at the centre.
“It is the failure of the BJP government. The central government is deliberately not acting, many journalists have been attacked too,” said Owaisi.
