However, TPCC president and chief minister A Revanth Reddy has taken the lead in spearheading the election campaign in Telangana. Capitalising on the Congress guarantees, he has conducted road shows, street corner meetings, and public gatherings across various constituencies. Revanth has also pledged to waive up to Rs 2 lakh crop loans for 60 lakh farmers by Aug 15. He has been actively countering allegations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
In contrast to the Congress, most national BJP leaders have already launched their campaigns in Telangana and the BRS, however, continues to rely on party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao with his set of campaigners KT Rama Rao, and T Harish Rao.
Meanwhile, the Congress contesting candidates, supported by the council of ministers and chief minister, are working hard in their constituencies, holding public meetings and door-to-door campaigns. However, Revanth is yet to address public meetings in constituencies such as Khammam, Karimnagar, Hyderabad, Nizamabad, and Peddapalli.
According to a senior Congress leader, AICC leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi are currently campaigning in other states that have elections before Telangana. They are expected to focus on Telangana in the first or second week of May, in the last leg of campaigning before the May 13 Lok Sabha polls.
