Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman was murdered in full public view late on Friday in Khammam district by her former husband's friend, who had allegedly been harassing her for sexual favours.
Khammam police said M Prameela and her husband Narasimha Rao, a registered medical practitioner (RMP), earlier lived as tenants at Chakali Bazar in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district in the house of Sravan Kumar, a friend of Narasimha Rao. The couple separated in 2019. After learning about the separation, Sravan Kumar allegedly began harassing Prameela on the pretext of love and sought sexual favours from her.
Unable to bear the harassment, Prameela moved to Bhadrachalam and took up a job as a saleswoman in a garment store. "However, the harassment continued and he even threatened to kill her. Prameela later lodged a complaint with the police and shifted to Khammam, where her brother stays," cops said.
After learning about the police complaint, Sravan Kumar traced her to Khammam and attacked her with a knife . She succumbed to multiple injuries. Police have registered a case and have taken Sravan Kumar into custody.
