HYDERABAD: Civil supplies officials seized 300 domestic LPG cylinders from hotels and restaurants across several districts in Telangana, including Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar, during raids conducted over the past two days. Officials booked cases under Section 6A of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, for hoarding, black-marketing and unauthorised movement of essential commodities.“In the last two days, we seized 124 cylinders and registered four cases. The worth of the seized cylinders is Rs 2.7 lakh,” said Nalgonda civil supplies official B Chandrashekar.

He added that gas agencies in the district have 8,118 cylinders in stock and assured that there is no shortage of domestic LPG. In Nirmal town, officials inspected 16 hotels and confiscated 29 domestic cylinders that were being used for commercial purposes. In Mahabubnagar and Jadcherla, authorities registered 31 cases and seized 54 cylinders. “Misuse and black marketing of domestic gas will not be tolerated,” said Khammam collector Anudeep Durishetty. Officials seized 18 cylinders from hotels and restaurants in the district.In Karimnagar, officials seized 39 domestic cylinders and registered 15 cases.
