Hubballi: Maratha Shri Bharathi Math Trust, in collaboration with Kshatriya Marata Samaj (96/Shahannav Kule) Charitable Trust, organised an Upanayana Samskara for Maratha children, registration of brides and grooms on a Maratha matrimonial website, and a conference at Maratha Shri Bharathi Math Bhavani here Sunday.
Inaugurating the programme, Union minister Pralhad Joshi said the Upanayana ceremony teaches how to lead one's future life and described the initiative as commendable. He said conducting Upanayana or weddings collectively helps build solidarity in society.
Joshi also spoke about the bond between the Maratha community and BJP, stating that it was rooted in ideals of equality without discrimination, as exemplified by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. "BJP upholds Hindutva, and the Maratha society has always stood by me — I remain eternally grateful," he said.
Shri Manjunath Bharati Swami, head of Shri Gosai Mahasansthan Math, Gavipuram, was present at the programme. A total of 31 children underwent the Upanayana ceremony. Registration was completed for around 200 grooms and 130 brides.
Kshatriya Marata Samaj (Shahannav Kule) Charitable Trust president Bhimarao Pawar, Maratha Shri Bharathi Math Trust president Sunil Dalavi and others attended the event.
