Belagavi: Ending all speculations, the KLE society Board of Management, on Friday, elected Amit Kore as its new chairman at a meeting in Belagavi. Amit Kore succeeded his father, Prabhakar Kore, who steered the institution for 42 years.
Under his leadership, the society expanded significantly, earning national and global recognition in the education and healthcare sector. The board appointed him as the honorary chairman to continue guiding the society's growth.

Founded in 1916, the KLE society is one of India's premier educational and healthcare institutions with over 317 institutions, including schools, medical and engineering colleges, and hospitals, . It is also engaged in social service for more than a century. The appointment of 46-yr-old Amit Kore to lead such a vast network is seen as a significant transition in the organisation's history.
Amit Kore was a member of the society board since 2010. He actively contributed to major administrative decisions, expansion initiatives, and the institution's long-term vision. He brought experience from both the education and industrial sectors.
He previously served as the chairman of Shri Chidananad Basaprabhu Kore sugar factory, and currently serves as one of its directors. He is also the vice-president of National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories, New Delhi; director of Shivashakti Sugar Factory; MD of Harms Distillery Pvt Ltd; and Inamdar Sugars, Marakumbi.
The meeting was attended by all office-bearers, along with secretary Dr BG Desai and joint secretaries Dr SS Jalalpure and Dr PR Kadakol.
