Mallikarjuna Kharge criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India's foreign policy.
He spoke after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating works costing Rs 1,069 crore in Chittapur town on Sunday. Kharge said the US allowed India to purchase oil from Russia for only a month.

He stated that the Non-Aligned Movement was the reason for world peace when Jawaharlal Nehru was Prime Minister. "But what is Modi doing now? After Modi visited Israel, it bombed Iran. The country's leader Ali Khamenei was killed by America. If the head of a country is assassinated, will that country be at peace? Will the world be able to live in peace?" Kharge questioned.
He said 65% of farmers in India were dependent on agriculture compared to 3% in the US. He said there was no tax in America for the country's products. However, taxes were being imposed on US products indiscriminately. "Modi says, Trump is my friend. But Trump says if you buy oil from Russia, he will tax you. Modi says he talks to Trump daily. Are you talking about taxation?" he questioned
