Illegal Goa liquor seized in Belagavi

Belagavi: Officers who stopped a car near Bahadurwad in Belagavi taluk on Saturday evening found illegal liquor being transported and seized 205 litres of Goa liquor and 25 litres of Oraka liquor from the car, worth an estimated Rs 3.1 lakh.Acting on a tip-off, the officers chased the car, conducted a raid, and seized liquor worth lakhs of rupees.A team led by excise inspector Manjunath Melligeri and deputy inspector Sunil Patil conducted the raid, in which YB Patil and home guard Bharat Patath participated. The accused fled the scene, leaving the vehicle as the team of officers raided, and a net was laid to trace him, excise department officials said. A case was registered and an investigation is under way.
