Five of a family killed in highway accident near Wadi
Kalaburagi: Five members of a family were killed in an accident occurred between a cruiser and a truck on National Highway-150 near Wadi in Chittapur taluk late on Friday night.
The deceased are: Mohmad Hussain, 60, Fatima Abdul Saab, 40, Rasul Bee, 40, Mahbub Sangavi, 37, and cruiser driver Tolu Pasha, 24, all from Ingalagi village of Chittapur taluk. It is said that a man named Mahmud Abdul Saab suffered from paralysis during the night and eight people went in a cruiser to admit him to hospital in Yadgir.
When they were returning after admitting the patient to the hospital at 11.40pm, a head-on collision took place between a Tamil Nadu-registered truck and the cruiser near Ladlapur. Five occupants of the cruiser died on the spot and the cruiser was completely crushed in the accident.
SP Addur Srinivasalu, DSP Shankar Gowda Patil, Chittapur CPI CS Patil, PSI K Thirumalesha, Renuka Udagi of Wadi station visited the accident spot. The bodies were shifted to Wadi Govt Community Health Centre.
Kalaburagi district minister Priyank Kharge has expressed shock over the accident. On micro-blogging site X, Priyank expressed his grief over the loss of precious lives in the accident. "I have spoken to the district police department about this. We and the district administration are going to give full cooperation to the family of the deceased. I hope that the family of the deceased will get the strength to bear the loss of their loved ones,” he said..
