Belagavi: The Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) has launched the Swachh Survekshan campaign under the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission to collect public feedback on sanitation and civic services across the city.Addressing reporters at the corporation office on Wednesday, executive engineer (environmental division) Hanumant Kaladagi said the Swachh Bharat Mission, introduced in 2016, aims to create a cleaner urban environment by incorporating citizens’ feedback. He added that the Centre incentivises urban local bodies with awards and star rankings to encourage improved sanitation standards.Kaladagi said BCC has taken up the campaign under the direction of commissioner Kartik M and has already received responses from around 16,000 residents. He added that the civic body aims to collect feedback from at least five per cent of the total population to meet the prescribed target under the survey. The survey includes five questions covering key aspects such as waste management and maintenance of public toilets. Citizens can take part by scanning a QR code linked to the campaign application and submitting their responses online. To boost participation, teams are visiting institutions and public places across the city to assist residents and encourage them to share their feedback.Appealing for public cooperation, Kaladagi urged citizens to actively participate by engaging with field teams or using the mobile app, stressing that wider participation is key to improving civic services and securing a better ranking for the city.
