4 held for honeytrap, extortion bid in Davanagere
Davanagere: Davanagere police arrested four people after a 66-year-old businessman alleged he was honeytrapped by them, and an attempt was made to extort money from him.The arrested are Sushmita, Channabasappa, Krishna and Rahul, all residents of Davanagere. The main accused, Sanjana, is absconding.

Police said the group devised a plan in which Sushmita, a nurse, befriended the businessman, who was known in a political party. The relationship gradually turned intimate. A few days ago, she sought financial help, claiming hardship.She later called him to an apartment to discuss the matter and sent Sanjana, who accompanied her, into the room with him. Police said that while the businessman was semi-nude in the company of the young woman, the others barged in and recorded a video on a mobile phone. They allegedly threatened to release it online if Rs 25 lakh was not paid."I came to offer Rs 12 lakh, but they extorted Rs 1 lakh from me," the businessman reported to Vidyanagar police station.
