The rice was being transported from Budagumpa village in Koppal taluk to Manvi in Raichur district when members of pro-Kannada organisations and the Jana Jagruti Samiti stopped the vehicle and alerted authorities. Food inspector Shekharappa, who inspected the stock, confirmed that the rice belonged to the Anna Bhagya scheme. The truck was later taken to the police station for further action. Jana Jagruti Samiti president Machhi Ganesh and Kannada organisation leader K Pampanna Nayak alleged that the ration rice was being transported at the behest of an influential political figure from Kukanapalli village. They urged the police to register a case and initiate action.
