BELAGAVI: After successful completion of their
training

of Group 1/16 were attested at
Talekar Drill Square
of
Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre
(MLIRC) here on Saturday. They will soon be reporting for duty at different parts of the country.
The parade was commanded by Sepoy
Shaik Jani Basha
while the parade adjutant was Major Manoj Parmar. Major General P N Rao, YSM, SM, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, the Infantry School, Belagavi, reviewed the parade and addressed the newly attested soldiers. He reminded them of the rich heritage and glory of MLIRC, one of the oldest infantry regiments of the country. He also stressed upon the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier's life.
Reviewing officer awarded the recruits for excelling in different spheres of training at the end of the parade. Subedar Honorary Captain Keshav Rao Talekar Medal and Trophy for Best in Drill were awarded to Sepoy Jani Basha. Major SS Brar Medal and Trophy for Best in Physical Training were awarded to Sepoy Akash Kirdat.
For being the Best in Field Craft, the Colonel NJ Nair Medal and Trophy were awarded to Sepoy Vishal Pawar. Sucha Singh Memorial Cup and Medal for Best in outdoor training activities were awarded to Sepoy Dayanand Jamadade. Sepoy Shaik Jhon Basha was awarded Namdev Jadhav Medal and Trophy for Best in Firing.
A host of army officers, junior commissioned officers, other rank and families of the newly attested soldiers were present during the parade.
Parents of the young soldiers proudly displayed "Gaurav Padak", which they wore at the ceremony. The event included the wreath-laying at the War Memorial to honour the martyrs.
