Zubeen ashes immersed in Brahmaputra
Garima shared her emotions on social media, writing, “The land, sky, wind of Assam, and now the mighty Brahmaputra... In the hearts of people and nature, there is only you... Oh Son of God, just as you have always protected Assam, continue to envelop it with your love. One day, we will meet again soon... We will talk about reincarnation, and write new stories of you and me... But now, we need to know what truly happened with you on that cursed day.”
Speaking to the media, Garima revealed that it was Zubeen’s wish to have his ashes immersed in the Brahmaputra, a decision made in consultation with family members and the district administration.
Zubeen passed away on Sept 19 in Singapore while swimming in the sea. He had travelled there on Sept 17 and was scheduled to perform at the North East India Festival on Sept 20. His cremation took place on Sept 23 in Sonapur, near Guwahati.
As Assam continues to mourn Zubeen's loss, his final film, 'Roi Roi Binale,' is nearing release. The project, which the artist passionately worked on until his last days, is being promoted by fans across the state. With no formal promotional campaign, citizens have taken it upon themselves to ensure the film's success.
From rural areas to urban centers, posters of 'Roi Roi Binale' are visible everywhere, thanks to grassroots campaigns by youth groups, fan clubs, and cultural organizations. These groups are organizing street announcements, social media promotions, and community screenings in anticipation of the film's release.
For many admirers, ‘Roi Roi Binale’ is more than just a film; it symbolizes Zubeen’s enduring legacy.
