Aizawl: Vice-President (VP) of India CP Radhakrishnan arrived in Mizoram on Friday afternoon on his maiden visit to the state since assuming office. He is scheduled to be the chief guest at the 20th Convocation of Mizoram University at Tanhril in Aizawl on Saturday.
On arrival at Lengpui Airport, the VP was received by governor Gen Vijay Kumar Singh, school education minister Vanlalthlana, and senior officials. He was also accorded a ceremonial guard of honour.
Later at Lok Bhavan, he was formally welcomed by the governor, CM Lalduhoma, home minister K Sapdanga, animal husbandry & veterinary minister C Lalsawivunga, and other dignitaries.
On Friday evening, the Mizoram govt is hosting a cultural programme followed by a dinner in his honour at Lok Bhavan.
On Saturday, Radhakrishnan will grace the 20th convocation of Mizoram University as chief guest. Following the event, he will depart for Tripura to attend the 14th convocation of Tripura University in the same capacity.
