Ulfa-I cadre surrenders in Nagaland
Dibrugarh: A Myanmar-trained cadre of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (Ulfa-I), identified as Dhananjay Asom alias Amarjyoti Moran (24), surrendered in Mon town of Nagaland on Thursday and was subsequently handed over to Assam Police at Sonari Police Station in Charaideo district.Dhananjay, a resident of Nalani village under Pengeri Police Station in Tinsukia district, had joined the banned outfit in 2021 and underwent extensive arms and weapons training at Ulfa-I camps in Myanmar’s Sagaing region, police said. According to police, Dhananjay left the militant organisation due to health-related reasons and had taken refuge in Nagaland’s Mon district about a fortnight ago in an attempt to surrender.

“Following intelligence inputs, through the joint efforts of Charaideo Police, Nagaland’s Mon Police, 23 Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Military Intelligence, Amarjyoti Moran alias Dhananjay Asom surrendered to the Charaideo Police,” a senior police official stated.The surrender was coordinated through a multi-agency operation involving security forces from both Assam and Nagaland.
