Silchar–Sairang passenger train to start from Feb 20
Silchar: The Silchar–Sairang passenger train service will commence from Feb 20, with Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) introducing regular operations five days a week, according to an official notification issued on Wednesday .The new service, numbered 55669/55670, will operate between Silchar and Sairang, enhancing rail connectivity to Mizoram.

The train will run five days a week in both directions. While the Silchar–Sairang service will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the return service will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays .According to the notification, the passenger train service will come into effect from Feb 20 from Silchar and from Feb 21 in the reverse direction.The train will be hauled by a diesel locomotive and will have a composition of seven coaches, including second class and luggage-cum-brake vans .The service was virtually inaugurated by railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw last week.The rail link up to Sairang, near Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, was inaugurated in Sept last year, connecting the state with cities such as Kolkata and Guwahati.
