PM Modi lauds Manipur youths for grassroots innovation
Imphal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the innovative spirit and social commitment of young achievers from Manipur, highlighting their grassroots contributions during the final Mann Ki Baat broadcast of 2025.
Modi singled out Moirangthem Seth, whose solar power initiative has brought clean energy to remote households, improving living conditions in underserved areas. “Where there is will, there is a way,” the Prime Minister said, praising Seth’s perseverance and dedication to community development through renewable energy.
Modi also acknowledged the commendable contributions of Margret Ramtharsiem from Churachandpur district and Chokhone Kricheina from Senapati district, noting that their initiatives have made a meaningful social impact.
He said Margaret Ramtharsiem saw Manipur's traditional products, its handicrafts, and items made from bamboo and wood, with a broad vision. Because of that vision, from a handicraft artist she became a medium for transforming people's lives.
The Prime minister also lauded Krichena for connecting with various markets and empowering local communities in her area through her passion of floriculture. “This exemplifies the fact that when traditional knowledge is leveraged with a modern vision, it can become a major vehicle for economic progress,” he said.
Meanwhile, the broadcast was collectively listened to at the residence of BJP MLA from Thongju assembly constituency Th. Biswajit Singh in Imphal East district. The programme was attended by several BJP leaders including BJP Manipur president A. Sharda Devi, along with a large gathering of party workers and supporters.
Moirangthem Seth joined the radio programme from Lok Bhavan, where he was accompanied by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. Following the broadcast, a reception was hosted at the residence of MLA Th. Biswajit Singh, providing an opportunity for party leaders and legislators to interact and acknowledge the achievements highlighted during the programme.
Reacting to the Prime minister’s remarks, BJP MLA Thangjam Arunkumar said the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat clearly demonstrated Prime minister Modi’s love and concern for all the communities in the state, and will also motivate many youths towards innovation for positive changes in society.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand has appreciated the PM's Mann Ki Baat programme for giving lot of importance to Manipur.
He thanked Modi for recognising the hard work of the peace-loving people of Manipur, and expressed hope the Prime minister will continue to help the state in its quest of peace and progress.
He also appealed to all the 36 communities residing in the state to join hands together in building the PM’s vision of Viskshit Bharat and help bring peace in the state by removing all barriers.
