Itanagar: One person died on the spot and three others suffered injuries in an accident near Yapik village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi-Yomi district on Sunday morning.
The incident happened when four people travelling in a car fell into a deep gorge near Yapik village, between 12am and 1am on Sunday, Tato Police Station officer in-charge Sunny Wangsu said.
Police said the vehicle was on its way to Aalo in West Siang district from Shi-Yomi when the accident occurred. The vehicle fell some 70-80 metres off the road.
“We are not sure about the reason behind the accident,” police said, adding that probably the driver might have fallen asleep.
The victim is identified as Sandeep Kr Sain (40), a businessman from Aalo and originally from Rajasthan. The body has been brought to the district hospital in Tato, where the post-mortem will be done, police said.
The injured, who were in serious condition, have been shifted to Aalo zonal general hospital for treatment, police said.
Police said all the passengers were non-locals and are identified as Suraj Rai (23), Vishal Jain (34), and Amarjeet Thakur (35).
