Himanta running politics of hatred, ‘miyas’ will change the game: Owaisi
Guwahati: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, while campaign for an AIUDF candidate in Morigaon on Thursday, said “the entire community of ‘miya’ voters will change the game on the polling day on Apr 9.”
Addressing a rally for AIUDF’s Dhing candidate Matiur Rahman, Owaisi said, “I feel a tsunami of the entire supporter base of AIUDF is coming. All miyas together will change the game on Apr 9. The Laharighat MLA has not done anything in the last five years. He is absolutely useless. He cannot do any work, nor does he have the passion to serve.”
Urging the gathering to support AIUDF, he said, “Who is this Raijor Dal candidate contesting against Matiur in Dhing? Who is Akhil Gogoi, who filed objections to remove names of 20 lakh ‘miya’ people from the NRC during the exercise?”
“Will you extend support to people who wanted to remove your names from the NRC? You cannot vote for Raijor Dal. They do not deserve your votes. Rather, you cast your vote for AIUDF candidate Matiur Rahman and make him the winner,” he added.
Owaisi accused CM Himanta Biswa Sarma of running “politics of hatred” in the state. “The CM says he will break our backs. They say that they have broken our bones and will make our lives miserable,” he added.
He further said that the world will remain alive as long as “miyas” are alive. “We are not afraid of anyone. Those who are committing oppression today, Allah will deliver justice to them,” he added.
Miya is a pejorative term used for Bangladesh-origin migrant Muslim in the state.
Claiming that more than 50,000 Muslims’ houses have been demolished, leaving them homeless, Owaisi urged voters to support Badaruddin Ajmal so that the rights of these people can be protected.
