Four die in Barak road accidents

SILCHAR: Four persons died and three sustained injuries in four separate road accidents in the Barak Valley during the Diwali festival.

Sources said one person, identified as Pramit Sen (23), died on the spot when their motorbike on which three persons were riding hit a culvert at Elongjuri on NH-8 near Karimganj town on Sunday night. The other two who rode the pillion sustained severe injuries in the accident. They were admitted to the Karimganj Civil Hospital for treatment.

In another incident, a man, identified as Bhargab Das (25), died when a car hit him on NH-8 when he was returning home on foot from puja at Mundamala Smashan Kali Bari at Patharkandi in Karimganj district on Saturday night. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared by brought dead.

Kabil Hussain Barbhuya (14), a Class IX student, died on Monday morning when a car hit him in the Beranga area near Silchar when he was on his way to his private tutor’s home.

In another incident, a person, identified as Dilip Koiri (45), died when a truck hit him at Bhagabazar in Cachar district on on Sunday night.

Priol resident dies in accident at Corlim

A 27-year-old man named Akash Gaude was killed in a road accident in Corlim, Old Goa. The accident occurred when a tempo collided with Gaude's vehicle. The driver of the truck, a 21-year-old named Pradeep Mahto, has been arrested for rash and negligent driving. The incident took place on Wednesday at around 2pm. Gaude was riding a scooter and Mahto was driving the tempo on the same route.

US military says 5 crew members died when an aircraft crashed over the Mediterranean

Five US servicepeople were killed in a helicopter crash during a training mission over the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
