Guwahati: A total of five students were arrested from the Jayanagar area on Thursday for brutally assaulting a 21-year-old student from Manipur. The victim, who sustained critical injuries, is currently undergoing treatment.The injured student has been identified as Joseph Sarko, while the accused were named as Taufik Ali and Riyam Deka from Hatigaon, Jahed Ahmed from Sribhumi, Priyamjyoti Kashyap from Nagaon and Chanakya Mohan Borah from city’s Gorolia area.Guwahati (East) division DC Mrinal Deka on Friday said, “Reports suggest students were fighting over ragging on campus. If more people are found involved, they will be arrested.”
