Festival governance revamped: New power committee to steer Hornbill Festival; Aiming for enhanced coordination and effective public engagement
Dimapur: Nagaland governor has constituted a 16-member standing high-powered committee to serve as the governing body of the Hornbill Festival, with CM Neiphiu Rio as chairperson. The committee has been tasked with providing overall policy direction, inter-departmental coordination, and strategic oversight in the interest of public service.According to an official statement, the body — set up on Friday — will provide strategic vision and policy guidance, ensure convergence among departments, approve major initiatives and partnerships, monitor progress against defined outcomes, oversee site allotments, regulate rates for materials and events, and take all key policy decisions related to the festival.A convenor and festival director will be appointed from among the committee members to lead operational aspects.The committee will also supervise corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and sponsorships linked to the Hornbill Festival. Additionally, it will decide on proposals to host music, cultural, or related events at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, outside the festival period.
