Cong ex-leader joins NPP in Maibang ahead of Assam polls
Silchar: Ahead of Assam assembly elections, National People’s Party (NPP) on Thursday welcomed prominent Dima Hasao leader Daniel Langthasa into its fold at a public convention held at Dishru Field in Maibang.Langthasa, a former Congress leader and ex-member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, had floated his own political platform — the People’s Party — in Sept last year. On Thursday, he was formally inducted into the NPP by party national president and Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma. NPP national working president James K Sangma, vice president Hemochandra Singh and Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Manikya Debbarma were present at the event.
