“Some anti-social elements hurled stones at vehicles carrying Congress leaders and workers, injuring several party members. Multiple vehicles were also damaged,” an APCC release said. As the situation deteriorated, a police contingent reached the spot, after which Congress lodged an FIR against the miscreants. After the incident, Gogoi, Saikia, and other leaders held a sit-in on the road.Later, speaking to the media, Gogoi criticised CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and questioned whether he believes in the people’s court. His remarks followed a local court order restraining him (Gogoi) and 2 other senior Congress leaders — Bhupesh Baghel and Jitendra Singh — from making “defamatory statements” against Sarma.“Is he (Sarma) not a political leader? Does he not have trust in the people’s court? Does he only wants to drub voices against him?” Gogoi asked.
