Assam rolls out pilot ‘shramik yojana’ at Dewan tea estate

Silchar: The Assam govt rolled out the pilot phase of the ‘Swasthyaban Shramik Yojana’ at Dewan tea estate in Cachar district on Sunday, with minister Kaushik Rai asserting that the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to taking healthcare to the doorstep of tea garden workers.


Addressing a gathering at the tea estate, Rai said under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the govt has focused on ensuring that essential health services reach even the most marginalised sections living in tea garden areas. He described the scheme as a people-centric intervention aimed at improving the quality of life of tea estate workers, who form the backbone of Assam’s tea economy.
