22g heroin seized near Shillong bypass, 1 arrested
Shillong: A suspected drugs dealer was arrested and 22.14g heroin seized from him by the anti-narcotics task force (ANTF) of Meghalaya Police.The individual was arrested after an ANTF team intercepted a suspected drug consignment near the Shillong bypass on Friday. “Acting on credible intelligence, an ANTF team laid a ‘naka’ near ISBT Shillong along the bypass road after receiving information that a person would be arriving to hand over a consignment of contraband,” police said.

“The team intercepted a car and apprehended the suspect, identified as Wanbor Kharpran,” police said.“Upon searching following due legal procedures, officers recovered two plastic boxes containing suspected heroin weighing a total of 22.14 grams,” the police said.The accused, along with the seized contraband and vehicle, has been handed over to Mawlai PS for further investigation and necessary legal action.Police sources said further investigation is underway.
