2 men abducted in Tripura, rescued within hours
Agartala: Police rescued two persons in the Baikhora area of South Tripura district in the wee hours of Sunday, just a few hours after their abduction. However, no arrests have been made so far, police said.The victims were identified as Bhuban Chan Joshi, an engineer, and Amit Kumar, a floor-man at Oil India Ltd’s drilling camp, an Assam-based company. Reports state they were abducted from the Devtamura drilling site under Silchari PS in South Tripura while preparing to head back to their base camp.

Preliminary reports ruled out any involvement of militant groups. Instead, reports suggested that local miscreants with possible political affiliations might have committed the abduction for monetary gain. The victims have not disclosed any details of financial transactions and an FIR has been filed to initiate an investigation.
