Dimapur: Two persons have been arrested on charges of abducting and extorting a businessman here, the Dimapur commissionerate of police said in a release on Friday
.
The release said an FIR was lodged by Ruhon Das, a resident of Sematilla in Dimapur, on April 21. According to the FIR, he was followed by two unidentified persons near Murgipatti when he was returning home after closing his shop at Hongkong Market around 7pm on April 20. The accused then forcibly took him towards the highway, seized his mobile phone and compelled him to disclose his Google Pay password. They then withdrew Rs 6,000 from his account at a petrol pump in Ghorapatti.
The victim was later released near Vishal Mega Mart and the suspects fled.
The accused have been identified as M Stephen Yanthan and and Chumbenthung Yanthan.
