145 TB deaths reported in Mizoram last year: Officials
Aizawl: At least 145 tuberculosis (TB) patients died out of 2,275 cases detected in Mizoram during 2025, while 84% of patients were cured in the same period, officials of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) under the state national health mission said on Sunday.The NTEP officials said 267 TB patients were also co-infected with HIV, and 146 were identified as suffering from multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

Of the total cases, 2,134 patients were above 14 years of age, while 141 were below 14. The gender distribution included 1,364 males and 911 females.Aizawl district recorded the highest number of TB cases at 1,569, followed by Lunglei in south Mizoram with 155 cases, and Kolasib district bordering Assam with 138 cases.Officials further said 1,900 TB cases were detected in govt-run hospitals across the state, while 375 patients were identified in private and church-run hospitals.
