11 hospitalised after consuming wild mushroom in Tinsukia dist
Dibrugarh: Eleven people, including two children from two families, were admitted to Sadiya Civil Hospital on Sunday evening after falling ill following consumption of poisonous wild mushrooms. All the affected individuals are neighbours and residents of Rukmini Deori village of Sadiya in Tinsukia district, reports Rajib Dutta.The group consumed the wild mushrooms that were collected from nearby wooded areas. Around two hours after the meal, they began complaining of nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. They were subsequently taken to the hospital.The affected people have been identified as Sumbari Deori (60), Abhijit Deori (45), Ujjwal Deori (4), Niranjan Deori (2), Mamoni Deori (30), Kujay Deori (56), Mitali Deori (55), Radhika Deori (12), Nani Deori (35), Manjit Deori (19) and Prajesh Deori (20).Doctors at the hospital are currently monitoring their condition closely to manage the effects of the toxin.Upon receiving news of the incident, Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia visited the hospital on Sunday night. He ensured that the families were receiving the necessary care and cautioned the public against the dangers of foraging unidentified mushrooms.
