Gurgaon: Three men have been arrested for allegedly assaulting and robbing a shopkeeper and his brother twice in the Gandhi Nagar area after they refused to pay a monthly commission.
Those arrested include Ajay Singh alias Cheeni and Ritik Bhatt, both residents of Uttarakhand, and Rishabh Tiwari alias Bhola of Amethi, UP.
The incident took place on Oct 5, when around 10 to 15 men attacked the shopkeeper and his brother at their paan and samosa shop near street number 6 in Gandhi Nagar.
"The accused thrashed them with sticks, threw their shop counter and goods outside, and looted Rs 18,000," police said. The victims were taken to a government hospital in Sector 10A for treatment.
The complainant told police that the same group had earlier assaulted them on Oct 2 and stolen around Rs 3,000. "They also threatened to kill us if we didn't pay the monthly compensation," he stated in his complaint.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed that a dispute over money led to the assaults, police said.
Police also found that Ajay Singh had a prior theft case registered against him in Gurgaon. The trio was produced in a court and sent to two-day police custody.
