'India Should Get Rightful Place In UN Security Council': UK PM Keir Starmer

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has voiced strong support for India’s permanent seat on the UN Security Council, calling it India’s “rightful place” after discussions with PM Narendra Modi. Starmer emphasized India’s global influence through the Commonwealth and G20. India’s bid has long received backing from the US, Germany, and France. Russia has also supported India’s UNSC membership, highlighting the need for the council to reflect today’s global realities. Russia also advocates for Brazil’s inclusion and greater representation from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Additionally, Bhutan and Mauritius have endorsed India’s permanent seat, with Bhutan urging UN reforms and Mauritius highlighting India’s significant global contributions as justification for its membership.
