GURGAON: Stray dogs are giving the residents of Sector 56 a harrowing time. Residents say dogs enter their colonies and are a menace, compelling them to think twice before venturing out of their homes. The canines have made it difficult for those leaving for work early and joggers. "The stray dogs attack us even in the early morning hours. They start running behind us, barking ferociously," says Aarti Agarwal, a resident of Alaknanda Apartments.

Even the children and the elderly feel scared walking outside. Babloo Yadav, a security guard at New Anand Apartments, says stray dogs have made it difficult for residdents to enter the society. Kishore, who irons clothes for the residents, says, "Many a time, they start running behind my bicycle, barking hysterically." According to the residents, stray dogs are mostly seen near the HUDA market and Mother Dairy road.Rupali Shukla, a student living in Delhi, who often visits her friend in Sector 56, says, "Stray dogs scare me every time I come here. Once I wanted to go to the Suncity roundabout but the dogs made it impossible. The moment I got on to a rickshaw, around four to five dogs started running alongside and barking. Sterilization is not a solution. They need to be taken to shelter homes."
