The breakthrough in the case began when CBI, acting on a request from Haryana Police, secured the Interpol Red Notice against Motta on Feb 11, 2025. This international alert served as a global trigger for law enforcement agencies to track and locate the fugitive. A senior CBI officer said, "The successful deportation was the result of close collaboration between CBI, the ministry of external affairs, the ministry of home affairs and NCB Washington. By leveraging Interpol channels, we were able to pinpoint Motta's location in the US and facilitate his return to face justice."
